Over twenty years ago, Terry Deary, the world’s best selling non-fiction writer for children, and the Cartoonist Martin Brown produced the first Horrible Histories books.

Now in 2015 it is a very successful educational entertainment franchise covering many media outlets such as books, magazines, audio books, stage shows and TV shows.

The first books were produced in a series in 1993 aiming to describe British history, as well as exploring significant worldwide cultures. In 2003, however ‘Gory Stories’ which were fiction based were also added to the series. With over 100 titles, selling over 20million copies to 31 countries, no wonder Scholastic Corporation, their UK publisher, described Horrible Histories as one of the company’s “crown jewels”.

And now, the stage show comes to the Millennium Forum. Using actors and stunning 3D special effects, Groovy Greeks and Incredible Invaders make their way to our shores bringing Historical figures and events to life on stage.

Educational and fun… and also yucky in some parts, the Horrible Histories stage shows have been a huge success and has proved to be a fantastically fun educational tool to keep the kids entertained while they learn a few facts along the way.
